Great news! This evening, at a ceremony in the French National Assembly, DiploFoundation received an award as one of “The Top 10 Who Are Changing the World of Internet Politics” given by PoliticsOnline. Other laureates include Google and Twitter.

Diplo was given the award for innovative capacity development for inclusive global governance.

Jovan Kurbalija says that “Although we are the formal recipient, we share this award with the IG-community. Nitin and Markus have supported fellowships at the IGF and made it possible for many participants to have real policy immersion. It would take us several pages to try to list all of the ways you have supported our capacity building programme or were involved as participants and lecturers. Thank you!”

“Capacity development methodology” has become an “IG brand”. In September Diplo won a competitive EU/ACP tender for Africa-Caribbean-Pacific countries.

There are increasing calls to replicate the IG capacity building experience in other policy fields such as climate change, migration and food security. The good news is that in these and other policy fields there is a genuine attempt to create inclusive global governance. Most of the actors in these fields have recognized the limitations of traditional “inclusiveness measures” (workshops, support for participation in the meetings) and are now trying to embed them in a broader process that gradually builds skills, knowledge and confidence to participate in international meetings.
