Weltanschauung
Worldview [Weltanschauung] :: I hold a libertarian position on free will: I do believe that we do have genuine free will, that we are morally responsible for our thoughts and actions, and live in an fundamentally uncertain, indeterministic world. I do not strictly separate my scientific from my personal views. The highest form of ambiguity that we, as human beings, ought to learn to understand and live with, is that there is absolutely no contradiction in the fact the we are living as free beings in a world that can be completely described by mathematics. Thanks to Laplace, Pascal, Bernoulli, Kolmogorov and others, we do have a mathematical description of uncertain worlds as our. I usually do not pay much attention to critical remarks from humanist psychologists reclaiming our freedom of choice and human spirituality, because I myself believe in both, except for the fact that I am aware of the compatibility of human freedom with the harmonious, mathematical world we live in.
